From Orenburg to Mordovia: the "University Shift" for 140 activists of the "Movement of the First" has ended at KBSU
The fourth stream of "University Shifts -2025" has ended at the Kabardino-Balkarian State University named after Kh.M. Berbekov. Over the course of ten days, 140 activists of the "Movement of the First" from 24 regions got acquainted with student life, the opportunities of the university and the nature of the Caucasus. In order for schoolchildren to get the most out of their trip to Elbrus, the Youth Policy Department of KBSU prepared a varied program: career guidance, educational events, as well as classes aimed at fostering patriotism. Every day, the participants were treated to activities, quests, master classes, sports competitions, contests and hiking trips. The shift participants visited the university campus. During the excursion, the children looked around the university's academic buildings and talked with teachers and students. In the forensic laboratory of the Institute of Law, Economics and Finance, the guests got acquainted with the equipment and tools used to analyze evidence and conduct examinations. And in the national centers of the Social and Humanitarian Institute of KBSU, they immersed themselves in the unique atmosphere of Russian, Kabardian and Balkarian cultures, and also tasted national dishes. Head of the Department for Work with Applicants of KBSU Albina Vindizheva acquainted the children with the university's capabilities, areas of training and conditions for admission to the university. The specialist noted some features of the future admission campaign of 2026, talked about who has benefits when entering the university, and what targeted training is. The children themselves tell us how the shift went. Sayana from the Orenburg Region studies at the college of Orenburg State University. I learned about the "University Shifts" on the "Movement of the First" website, applied, passed the competitive selection, and as a result, got to "Shifts" at KBSU: I really liked the atmosphere, especially the picturesque Caucasus Mountains, which create a unique feeling. The organization of "Shifts" is at the highest level. Every day brought new vivid impressions. I was lucky to get into a wonderful squad, our counselors were simply great, real professionals. I became very close with the guys from the squad and hope for further communication. The very fact that we cried two hours before leaving speaks to how rich, memorable and fun the shift was. "University Shifts" are a great way to get to know different universities, and Kabardino-Balkarian State University left me with the most pleasant memories, - shared Sayana. Victoria Serebryakova from Mordovia, the chairperson of the council of the "First" of the city of Saransk, was very happy when she found out that she got to "Smena" at KBSU. After all, visiting the Caucasus was her dream: The trip to Kabardino-Balkaria became for me not only an opportunity to learn more about other universities and decide on a future profession, but also left a deep mark on my soul. I experienced the warmest emotions, met wonderful people, and our counselors, Yura and Alim, became real older brothers for us. Their constant support and presence helped us, the whole squad, to unite. Our evening events were especially memorable - they were incredibly atmospheric and cozy, truly homey. The excursion to Elbrus was simply unforgettable, like a flight into space or a fairy tale, I am still overwhelmed with emotions. Thanks to the “Smena” we realized that KBSU is an excellent choice for admission, and I am seriously considering this university for further studies. There is a large selection of educational programs, and I was very impressed by the stories about how bright and exciting student life is. Milena Nefedova came from Mordovia, transferred to the 10th grade: “The “University Shifts” at KBSU left the most pleasant impressions on me. I was especially pleased with how the university was able to bring together young people from all over Russia, creating an atmosphere of unity and attachment to this place. I want to share one highlight: my 7th squad won the project competition! We developed a game concept for future “University Shifts.” Our idea was to create several thematic “ministries,” each of which received a specific task. By solving these problems, the participants got acquainted with the process of organizing such events in practice.” The University Shifts project of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation and the Movement of the First was created for career guidance of schoolchildren and college students. Its goal is to give them the opportunity to experience student life, understand how universities function, and study their educational programs and career prospects. https://eng.kbsu.ru/news/from-orenburg-to-mordovia-the-university-shift-for-140-activists-of-the-movement-of-the-first-has-ended-at-kbsu/
